The short answer

What is Outstanding Tiny Desk AI?

Turn one to five adult portraits into the cast of a short desk-concert video. Choose your lead singer and any optional bandmates; the prepared reference guides the performance, camera and room. You do not need to film, sing or write a prompt.

The Outstanding trend recasts a familiar concert as an unexpected band. Here, you choose who takes each part. The player above shows a complete five-person AI example, so watch its close-ups and sax moment before assigning your photos.

Give the band a reason

Who is in your next set?

The concert stays the same format. Your casting makes it personal. These ideas help you choose the people, rather than change the song or add custom lyrics.

A birthday headline act

Give the birthday person the lead close-up. Add friends at the backing mics and save the sax reveal for the friend who always steals the show.

The group chat reunion

Cast up to five friends for a shared joke. Only two of you joining? Use the lead and any one optional part; the other slots can stay empty.

The office farewell set

Put a departing colleague on lead vocals, with consenting teammates behind the desk. Share it as a playful send-off rather than a real workplace performance.

The after-match encore

Build a band from your own adult rec team or fantasy-league friends. Keep the joke friendly and use portraits everyone has agreed to share.

How many people can I add?
One to five. The lead singer is required; front mic, back-left vocals, back-right vocals and sax are optional. Add one clear adult portrait to each role you want to replace.
What is the video shown here?
This is a complete 19-second AI concert example with five performers and generated sound. It combines five generated clips into one performance. Your own result may differ.
Is it free to try?
Watching the example and preparing a cast are free. A personal video requires an account and credits; there is no free personal render. A 480p concert uses 20 credits and a 720p concert uses 44.
Do I need to sing or write a prompt?
No. Add your portraits. Your video is generated with sound using the concert reference. Music, vocals and timing may vary.
What happens if a generation fails?
A confirmed failed generation returns the credits used for that job, rather than automatically refunding your payment. If submission is uncertain, keep the original task and check its status before starting another.
Where are my photos saved?
Signed-in photo drafts stay on this device for up to 24 hours and can be cleared. Generating sends your photos to private storage and the video provider. Never upload a portrait without permission.
What file will I receive?
A completed session is one 19-second MP4 with sound at your selected 480p or 720p quality. Choose 9:16, 16:9, 1:1, 4:3, 3:4 or 21:9. Watch and download the same file in My videos within its 14-day access window.
Does it keep the original Outstanding recording?
Your video uses model-generated sound, which can differ from the original Outstanding recording, voice and timing. The example above also includes generated performance audio; your own soundtrack may differ.
Can I use my own song, lyrics or outfit prompt?
No. This studio uses a prepared concert template with photo-to-role casting. There is no audio upload, lyric editor, outfit prompt or visitor model selector.
Do extra bandmates cost more?
No. Cast size does not change the quote: 20 credits at 480p or 44 at 720p, for one to five people. Frame shape also keeps the same quote. Check the displayed total before submitting.
Which photos work best?
Use one consenting adult per photo, facing the camera in even light. Keep the face, hair and shoulders visible. JPG, PNG and WebP are accepted up to 3 MB, with at least 340 pixels per side. Convert HEIC before uploading.
What happens to empty cast slots?
They stay unassigned and use the reference cast as the generation target. Skipping front mic does not move your back-left portrait into that slot. AI may still change unselected performers or small scene details.
Will every face and outfit look exactly like the photo?
Photos guide facial appearance, hair, build and clothing; the concert reference guides the performance and room. You can add a close-up of the same person for clearer facial reference. Likeness, hands, outfits and motion can vary. Review your actual video before sharing.
How long does generation take?
There is no guaranteed turnaround time. Accepted jobs continue after you leave; return to My videos with the same account to check progress. A delay is not proof of failure, so avoid submitting a duplicate job.
Can I post the video on TikTok, Reels or Shorts?
Yes, if you have the necessary permissions and follow the destination platform’s rules. Choose 9:16 for a vertical MP4, review the result and identify it as AI-created. Buying credits does not grant rights to a third-party song or performance.
Is this an official NPR or Charlie Wilson product?
No. This is an independent AI creation tool, with no affiliation or endorsement from NPR, Tiny Desk Concerts, Charlie Wilson or The Gap Band. The reference is an AI remix, not untouched original concert footage.
